How to interpret a pillar within an already renovated living room so that it can be experienced as a strengthening element and integrated with the surrounding elements?
Valentina Garraffa took up the challenge! The design idea was to make it the protagonist by integrating it with the surrounding environment. In the living room, which pre-existing the intervention, there are many contemporary works, a passion of the owners of the house and therefore the study of the colours, of the lines from the different perspectives of the environment was the starting point for the design reinterpretation of the column.
The surface was treated with a microcement textured coating and graphite powder patinas.

The geometry of the enveloping lines which, like a continuous ribbon that develops on the 4 faces of the column, breaks down the whole and deconstructs the verticality of the column. The ribbon was painted in a yellow ocher color, dialoguing and totally harmonizing with the works of art already present on the walls. The objective was to create a strongly characterizing image of the environment consistent in terms of image, colors and lines. The result is an artistic design element that organically harmonizes the living area's environment.
